Missing files at "Install Slackware" chapter?

Postby czezz » Mon Nov 24 2014 - 16:24:12

Hi, I have been following installation guide of Slackware on Rasp.
I do not understand the last point on the "Install Slackware" chapter:

Code: Select all

# ROOT=/mnt installpkg /raspi-extra/kernel* /raspi-extra/raspi*

Where I am supposed to find these files at?
I cannot see them in slackwarearm-14.1 repository.

Good point - I just followed the instructions and it all worked.

My guess is the SD card image puts these packages in /mnt/ and they get removed after installation and reboot.

I for the life of me I cannot remember doing anything to get them - the command just worked.

Nick

Edit: Yes the base slack installer does that - read the installer script -> https://github.com/idlemoor/raspi-slack ... SlackBuild

A. You can't get down off an elephant.

The /raspi-extra/kernel* and /raspi-extra/raspi* packages are part of the installer, not the source. When you write the installer image to your SD card the /raspi-extra directory is included. This is so you can update your newly installed Slackware system to the latest kernel and modules, etc., before you reboot.

It's not a case of finding the files because they are already there for you to install. If any part of the SARPi guide is unclear or could be made easier to understand please let me know. ;)

Thanks,
Exaga
