ntpd (Guide)

Postby posktomten » Fri Jul 17 2015 - 11:58:43

Hey!
Thanks so much for a very good guide to install Slackware!
I made a guide with a script and other files that you can download to sync Raspberry Pi 2 with time servers on the Internet.
(Also works with other versions of Slackware.)
Could be interesting, since the computer has no hardware clock.

A few things to add.

On the ntp client, issue this:

~$ ntpq -pn

That will show you the server[s] sync'ed to:

ntpq -pn
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
============================================
*192.168.1.54 194.1.151.226 3 u 26 64 37 2.704 -0.724 0.491

And if you run a server for your network (like I do - one machine sync's with upstream servers, and all my networked machines sync with my server, as shown above) you can issue this to see what machines it is hooked up to:

~# ntpq -c mru
Ctrl-C will stop MRU retrieval and display partial results.
Retrieved 10 unique MRU entries and 0 updates.
