Latest slackpkg upgrade-all a bit dodgy

Postby linicks » Thu Jun 02 2016 - 17:34:36

Slackware current is a bit dodgy at the mo...

I now have a spare PI B as my fish tank sprang a big leak down the front corner seam at 20:30 odd on a Sunday night 3 weeks ago which after 1 hour of fighting it left 1" or water in the bottom - had no option but to humanely kill the fish :(

So, with my old fish tank cam Pi, I used slackpkg to upgrade all (new Glibc etc) for a bit of real learning

The first time it ran, something happened when I wasn't watching, and awk went AWOL with some sort of missing library - that foobarrred the whole install; I FTP'ed an awk binary from one of my other Pi's to get it going again. It did come back up, but system was in such a poor state I started again today from an image backup.

All seemed to run smoothly and installed in an orderly fashion. But after reboot, slackpage squinnied about a missing lib. It turns out curl seems to have been built against usr/lib/libsasl2.so.2.0.23 but there is no symlink to the latest lib. Again, FTP'ing the libs from another Pi sorted that out.

All seems to be running fine now, except 'free'. I can't work this one out:

Code: Select all

total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available
Mem:         493832       19900      347360         388      126572      382376
Swap:             0

Just utter nonsense!

Anyone any ideas?

OK, fixed it - but first the build tool chain is broken - I had to install guile and libffi to get 'make' to work.

I built procps-3.2.8 from 14.1 and replaced the -current version - free now works properly again:

Code: Select all

total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:        445112     150712     294400          0      26308      93060
-/+ buffers/cache:      31344     413768
Swap:            0          0          0

OK, reference the issue with the missing lib that curl wants (which foobars slackpkg).

It is a missing symlink in the package cyrus-sasl-2.1.26-arm-1:

Code: Select all

cd /usr/lib
ln -s libsasl2.so.3.0.0 libsasl2.so.2

Fixes that up.
